History of the Boeing 747

The Boeing 747, also known as the "Queen of the Skies," first took flight in 1969 and revolutionized long-haul air travel with its massive size and range. It was the world's first wide-body airliner and became a symbol of international travel.

Over the decades, the 747 saw many variants including the 747-400 and the more advanced 747-8, delivering both passenger and cargo capabilities. Its unique hump design made it instantly recognizable and allowed for a two-deck configuration.

Despite its iconic status, changing market dynamics and more efficient twin-engine aircraft led to the 747's gradual retirement. Boeing officially ceased production of the 747 in 2023, marking the end of a remarkable aviation era.
